Locating Reinforcement At The AT&T Highrise

GPRS was contacted to locate all reinforcing steel and conduit within a patch of the concrete floors of a construction project. Plans for this Downtown Atlanta AT&T historic high-rise called for multiple core drilling locations and did not allow for any of the reinforcing steel or conduit within the slab to be struck.

With the 1600MHz antenna, GPRS project managers were able to the floor and provide clear locations for core drillers. Many of the walls on this project were 11” thick. The 1600MHz GPR unit was able to penetrate to approximately 12” on either side of the slab. The 1600 MHz antenna will typically reach depths from 18-24.”

In the pictures, you can see the work that GPRS project manager, Patrick Moulin, marked in real-time that showed electrical conduit and rebar. You can see the marks on the finished tile floor that indicate the location and type of lines located by the 1600 MHz antenna. Dry erase marker was used at the clients request as to not permanently mark the floors.
